Off to a new year, off to a new season! Just in time for the start of the 2025 trout season, Alex and Paulo warmly invite you to join our new workshop sessions. These courses will focus on fishing at the start of the season, exploring various techniques and strategies to tackle the often challenging conditions and still somewhat sluggish fish.  We’ll cover topics such as choosing the right tackle and flies, understanding aquatic environments and insect life, approaching different spots effectively, and much more. A key focus will be on fishing with modern Euro-nymph techniques, though dry flies and streamers will also play a significant role. Look forward to an inspiring and educational start to the new trout season – we can’t wait to join you by the water!

 

The Season-Start-Workshop with Alex and Paulo will take place in the NRW area (approx. 100 km around Aachen). The exact waters are still to be announced, because we want to create the best conditions for a successful and above all instructive course, depending on the water level and weather conditions. In addition to the correct casting and fly-management techniques, we will focus in particular on the set-up of the equipment, the setting of leader systems and different nymph rigs. Other central topics are reading the water and identifying the best fish locations, the right choice of flies and the appropriate presentation depending on the water, the location and the time of year. If required and if there is interest, nymph set-ups from different manufacturers will be available for you to borrow.

The following main topics will be dealt with:
 
  • The correct way of judging the conditions (weather and water)
  • Reading the water and identifying potential spots
  • The choice of the right nymph
  • Casting with the nymph
  • Different techniques of presenting a nymph
  • Equipment knowledge
  • Setting up different Euro nymphing set-ups
  • Answering individual customer questions

 

The workshop is designed for beginners as well as advanced fly fishers. However, basic knowledge of fly casting is required, the special casting technique with a Euro-Nymphing outfit will be worked out and learned on site. The maximum number of participants per session is 6. If you are interested, you can fish the water on your own the following day.
