NRX+ LP with Shilton Click

Fly rods from Gary Loomis (G.Loomis) have an excellent reputation worldwide - and they have had it for many, many years! Notably, many models from this American rod manufacturer enjoy a cult status today. This is hardly surprising, as at G.Loomis, one hundred percent fishability meets high-quality craftsmanship, top-notch components, and timeless design. That's exactly what discerning fly anglers are looking for! The NRX+ LP single-handed rods now seamlessly join the long history of success at G.Loomis.

LP stands for 'Lite Presentation.' And with that, the specific area of application for these single-handed rods from the extensive NRX family is clearly defined. Their medium-fast action is designed to provide fly anglers with a truly exceptional experience when using dry flies. Thanks to G. Loomis's Dynamic Recovery Technology (DRT) - a combination of the new Mega Modulus+ graphite matrix and the new GL8 resin system - rod designer (and casting world champion) Steve Rajeff was able to create a dry fly rod that has both a crisp and fast recovery and allows for a very delicate presentation. The NRX+ Lite Presentation utilizes DRT, enabling efficient loading at short to medium distances and quick straightening after the flex. These rods are extremely lightweight and incredibly precise, allowing you to accurately target your fly and control the line directly and immediately during mending.

This rod series feels particularly at home with water load casts and all kinds of trick casts. The direct and clear feedback from the sensitive blank is impressive and delivers incredible fun while casting. Rarely have we had so much control over our fly line! Dry flies and lighter nymphs can be placed gently on the water with a tight loop, enabling a very discreet presentation to wary trout and grayling. And if you need a bit more power? No problem! The lower section of the NRX+ LP holds incredible reserves of strength that can be easily tapped into when battling strong fish.

G.Loomis NRX+ LP Blank

The dark, olive-colored blank of the NRX+ LP presents itself with a classic finish, as expected from discerning fly anglers at G.Loomis. Subtle decorative windings and a beautiful AA-grade cork grip are convincing features of this versatile rod series. The elegant aluminum reel seat with a beautiful Amboyna burl wood inlay fits perfectly into the harmonious overall picture. If you're in search of a high-end rod with a very sensitive action for trout and grayling fishing... look no further! The NRX+ LP single-handed rod will thoroughly delight you and provide unforgettable hours of dry fly fishing. We're convinced of that.

Conclusion:

We tested the NRX+ LP in #3 and 8.3 ft. length on a small stream and fell in love with this delicate, sensitive rod. And this also applies visually because all components are really well-matched. G.Loomis spared no expense in choosing materials, and haptically, it all feels extremely high-quality. Traditional, high-quality, elegant - we liked that right away!

But what we liked even more after a few hours of fishing was the rod's performance because it's extremely versatile. We had a lot of fun with light fishing using dry flies and light nymphs at short and medium distances because, in these situations, it was extremely precise in conjunction with the short-headed streamer (Guideline Fario Tactical). However, even with a small streamer or a tungsten nymph on the Oros indicator, the rod, despite being a light class #3, handled surprisingly well.

So, if you're in search of a sensitive, versatile, and extremely well-crafted rod for the stream and river, we can highly recommend this gem.
