Let's start with the spool of the Obsession – the large spool core diameter is immediately noticeable! Unlike many classic fly reels, the Obsession has no narrow spindle on which the backing and line are wound but features a wider design. This brings several advantages: it allows faster line retrieval and reduces line coiling, as the larger diameter provides gentler line storage – particularly beneficial for monofilament running lines.
Another standout feature is the reel's adjustable clicker. As with other reels, a pin presses against a gear to produce the click sound in both directions. However, with the Obsession, the pin can be shifted to turn the clicker on or off. So, if you want to quietly hook the first salmon of the morning, you can simply turn the clicker off.

The striking S-handle grip is ergonomically shaped to provide optimal comfort and control while fishing. It is precisely machined from a single piece, as is the perfectly designed reel foot, which is milled from solid aluminum and meets AFFTA standards (North American Fly Reel Foot Standard). This ensures that the Obsession reel fits securely and stably on all AFFTA-standard reel seats. This standard is widely used, ensuring that the reel can be securely attached to most rods on the market.
The robust, closed housing of the Obsession allows the use of even the thinnest lines without any problems. It also contributes to the reel’s exceptional durability. The reel's axes and pillars are specially coated to ensure corrosion resistance, extreme hardness, and stability for a lifetime. For safely landing large fish, the reel is equipped with a closed drag system featuring a stainless steel drag shaft. The disc drag can be adjusted extremely finely and smoothly – as we have experienced several times in practice! In our test, the drag passed with flying colors!
