One Material - Two Colours? No problem with the new, innovative predator tying materials from H2O! In this video, we present the revolutionary 'Head To Tail Baitfish Fade' and the clever 'Mimic Faux Feather Brush' in detail and show you how you can quickly and easily tie a universal, multi-coloured predator streamer - which can be varied in many sizes and colours. Have fun re-tying!
The new materials by H2O have almost revolutionized the tying of streamers. It has never been so easy to tie a two-colored fly from one material. H2O's Head-to-Tail material is dyed to offer a realistic, gentle color gradient. With this material, you can tie an impressive fly whose color changes from head to tail. There are no limits to creativity: You can also tie a fly where the tail strongly differs in color from the streamer. This used to be possible only when using a second hook or shank. With the new material, this color change is possible without additional steps. This opens up completely new possibilities for tying streamers for sea trout, pike, and even GT.
In combination with the new Mimic Brush from H2O, the fly gains additional volume without losing mobility. The brush material also consists of multiple materials and colors in one! The volume is created by a solid, strong base material worked into the brush. This is complemented by longer, fine flash fibers that are evenly distributed in the brush and partially differ in color from the base material.
In just a few minutes, you can tie incredibly colorful flies with these two new materials, which impress with lively play and great volume. Florian Gräser uses these materials to quickly tie some top-notch pike flies, which he also likes to take on his saltwater trips for tarpon and GT with a different hook.
Quickly and easily tied - A predator streamer with the innovative materials from H2O
Depending on the purpose of the fly, either a predator or a strong saltwater hook is used. For the simple streamer, a base wrap is first tied to work the Head-to-Tail material into the tail area. Depending on your preference, you can decide what color the fly should have in the end and position the Head-to-Tail material accordingly. To give the fly a nice shape, the material is lightly tapered and shaped with fingers at the end. After adding the Head-to-Tail material, we already have a two-colored fly that is not only two-colored but also contains a flash component that provides a special attraction.
Once the tail of the streamer is finished, Florian reaches for the new Mimic Brush from H2O. This brush also consists of two materials and provides both volume and mobility. The Mimic Brush is simply added to the rear of the fly and wrapped forward. The only point to note is the regular sorting and combing of the material. The more care is taken, the better the end result will be. The brush material is tied almost to the hook eye, leaving only a little space for the eyes. Once the Mimic Brush is tied and combed out, it becomes clear that the fly is almost finished. The material immediately builds up, shows full volume, and the long flash fibers play with the light – simply brilliant! In this case, Florian opts for a UV glue head with two small eyes. The head is carefully shaped and cured in several steps with UV glue. It is even quicker if you stick the eyes directly onto the brush material.
We are convinced that tying great streamers for predator fishing is easier than ever before with these two materials! And the best part is that there is no need to compromise on looks or volume!
The pike love the new materials - simple but effective!
