The Switch-Flex System (patent pending) enables the quick exchange of rod blanks within the same handle – in just a few seconds. Whether switching from a fine 3-weight rod to a heavy 10-weight rod, or from a stream rod to a switch rod – the system makes it possible. It reduces luggage weight since up to three rod blanks can be stored in a single rod tube, and saves costs by making the purchase of several full rods unnecessary. At the same time, it contributes to more sustainable fly fishing by saving materials, resources, and energy. The Switch-Flex System Rod Handle
The new handle is made of high-quality carbon composite (40% carbon), offering extreme strength while being lightweight. It combines marine-grade silicone for a secure grip and durability, even under extreme saltwater conditions. From now on, Arctic Silver handles come with a standardized screw reel seat that fits all common reel feet. This seat is made of lightweight but very robust 6061 aluminum and is Type-2 hard anodized for added durability. The shape of the handle has been redesigned to fit even better in the hand, making it even more suitable for combining various fishing methods in one handle. Of course, the popular Free-Flex System – the hallmark of Arctic Silver – has been retained in the new handles.
The Patented Free-Flex System
The proven Free-Flex System has been further developed in the Switch-Flex Handle. The hollow handle with molded cutout allows the blank to flex even deeper, enabling a free swing. This results in better timing for casts and reduces missed casts. The oval handle promotes a relaxed hand position and reduces tension in the forearm and shoulder. This makes casting and fishing significantly less tiring, and the feedback from the blank is intensified – for the ultimate feeling of having a fish on the line directly in hand.
How the Switch-Flex System Works
Changing blanks within the handle is very easy. The chosen end cap is unscrewed, freeing the handle part of the blank. The blank can then simply be pulled out of the handle. The new blank is reinserted from below and fixed in place by screwing on the appropriate end cap (there are three options). It's important that the ArcticSilver logo is readable through the cutout in the reel seat and is centered. And just like that, you've switched your rod blank and can continue fishing – without having to unscrew the reel.

The Ultimate BEAST is a powerful fly rod designed for fishing for large predators such as pike, zander, hucho/taimen and saltwater giants. With a flexible, fast graphene-based #9 blank and a lightweight, responsive design, this rod is also suitable for heavy flies. It is equipped with durable titanium stripping guides and SiC guides that maximise casting and retrieving performance in windy conditions and strong currents.
