The Patagonia Boulder Fork Rain & Wading Jacket offers a brilliant combination of two worlds.
The cut of the rain jacket is similar to Patagonia's popular Torrentshell Jacket but offers additional chest and hand pockets reminiscent of a lightweight wading jacket. The chest pocket is, for example, the ideal place for a fly box or other small essentials by the water. The hand pockets are also very cleverly designed and offer an absolute added value. Unlike conventional rain jackets, the pockets of the Boulder Fork are not positioned directly at the lower hem but slightly higher up, below the chest pocket, as is known from a traditional wading jacket – a feature that not only salmon anglers will appreciate! Although the pocket arrangement is reminiscent of a wading jacket, the cut of the jacket retains the typical length of a rain jacket. This makes it a versatile all-rounder for all outdoor activities and an excellent choice for boat fishing when not wearing waders.
Optimal protection is not only provided by the robust H2No outer material but also by the shaped hood of the jacket, which can be optimally adjusted to the shape of the head with a drawstring – even when wearing a cap. The cuffs on the sleeves can also be well adjusted to the wrist with a Velcro fastener. This has a great advantage, especially when fly fishing, because when casting, the wet hand is constantly facing upwards, and the water from the fly rod and hand runs towards the wrist. However, the close-fitting closure at the wrist prevents water from getting under the rain jacket and soaking our layers. The 3-layer shell meets the H2No™ Performance Standard for exceptional waterproof and breathable protection, and the fabrics, membrane, and durable water-repellent (DWR) coating are made without perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs/PFAS).
