Would you like something a little more realistic? With the colourful painted fish masks by Wurm from the 3D printer, there are many options available to you at the vice. Martin Rieck likes to use the 3D Fish Mask especially for pike, but also for marmorata in the crystal-clear rivers of Slovenia. In this video we show you how to tie a universal predatory fish streamer - which can be varied in many sizes and colours.
So-called fishmasks make tying easier and help to find a quick and clean finish to the fly. Fishmasks are all the trend and have revolutionised the tying of streamers in recent years. In addition, the desire for a "realistic imitation" is ever more noticeable throughout the entire angling community. Including fly fishing! This is hardly surprising, because realistic patterns also attract the educated fish in the lake, the river or the sea! And the 3D Fish Masks by Wurm are well ahead in this respect. Not only do these fish masks come in an awesome shape from the 3D printer, but they are also carefully painted in different colours - to imitate the prey in the best possible way!
Finishing a fly is often not easy. Which material do I use? How do I manage a thin, small knot even with a lot of material? And how do the eyes stick best? The 3D mask from Wurm throws all these questions out the window. Because these fish masks allow you to tie in your favourite material very roughly and easily and to push the mask backwards over the hook eye (and thus over all the tying material). The mask can be fixed with an adhesive, e.g. superglue or UV glue, and the fly has a perfect finish. No matter how it looks under the mask. In addition, the amount of glue can be used to influence the weight and thus the sinking time of the fly, in order to fish directly on the surface or to get down more quickly.
Due to a large selection of sizes, the masks are not only suitable for the usual predatory fish - especially for pike. Asp, perch, zander, but also large trout streamers (for example, bullhead imitations) are given an outstanding look by the 3D heads, which has already led to success with us several times. Especially in tough conditions or when fishing waters with high fishing pressure!

List of Materials
For the 'Relastic Fishhead Pike Fly' Martin has chosen the following materials:
- Hook: A long shank hook (e.g. Ahrex PR320 Predator Stinger Hook). The size of the hook is determined by the target fish. Martin tied the fly for pike and therefore chose hook size #2/0).
- Body: Synthetic fibres (e.g. Pike Monkey SWS Fibre)
- Head: Fish Mask (e.g. Wurm 3D Fish Mask)
- Head: Superglue or UV glue (using coloured glue gives you an extra hot spot by the mouth)
- Finish: Edding 3000(For a perch imitation, black is the right choice).
- Glue: Superglue or gel (e.g. Minuteman Gel from Gulff. Martin uses the glue to secure the end knot and to fix the eyes on the fibres).
- Tying Thread: Thread in matching colour and thickness (e.g. from Textreme or Semperfli)
In addition to your fly tying vice, you will also need the following tools:
- Bobbin
- Scissors
- Edding
- UV-Lamp
- Whip Finisher
