The waders from LOC represent a breakthrough in the wader market, as they completely challenge the conventional approach to premium waders. The reason: They are not breathable. The innovative minds behind LOC wanted to eliminate the biggest weakness shared by all breathable waders on the market—the breathable membrane. By foregoing the breathable membrane, they were able to use different outer materials, making the waders significantly more robust, durable, and abrasion-resistant than their competitors. Despite not being breathable, a smart inlay still transports moisture away from the body and achieves a temperature-regulating effect. We extensively tested this innovative premium wader and present it in detail in our latest video.
Hold your breath because these waders don't breathe! A bold statement by the Swedish company LOC Outdoors AB positioning itself in the wader market. The question that plagued the ambitious minds behind the young company: Why isn't there a wader that lives up to its promises? Too often, disappointment came with wet, cold feet by the water, prompting the desire for a more durable wader solution to become a mission. But why are breathable waders prone to leaks? It quickly became clear that the fragile membranes of breathable waders are the main weakness. By deciding against a breathable membrane, a different solution was needed to divert sweat and moisture from the body. The answer: The novel, patented 3-D Mesh-Tech System!
The patented 3D-Mesh-Tech-System provides a similar effect to the membrane in breathable waders. Additionally, it provides padding for comfort and efficient insulation in cold conditions.
The Interior Material of the Waders: 3-D Mesh-Tech-System!
The patented 3D-Mesh-Futtersystem combines various features sought in high-performance waders. It wicks away moisture, retains heat, and also provides padding.
- Condensation and Sweat
The special lining ensures unhindered air circulation in the waders and a consistent distance between the skin and the outer material. The unique grid structure of the lining creates countless small gaps that trap condensation and moisture, promoting optimal air circulation.
- Insulation
The distance between the outer material and the body also creates an air cushion. This air cushion stores and insulates your body heat. The insulation capacity of the material has proven so efficient that a single layer of Merino wool under the waders is sufficient to keep you comfortably warm even in frosty external temperatures and very cold water.
- Pressure Distribution
The patented 3-D Mesh-Tech-System also offers incredible resistance to pressure, as the soft mesh structure cushions and distributes external pressure optimally. This not only preserves the material but, most importantly, ensures an incredibly comfortable wearing experience.
Note: Since your LOC waders are not breathable, moisture is captured in the 3D-Mesh-Tech-System. Simply turn your waders inside out at night and let them dry. Thanks to the quick-drying grid structure, you can slip into dry waders the next morning.
The exterior material of LOC waders is known from drysuits used for the toughest military operations. Such a robust, abrasion-resistant material has never been seen in waders before.
Military Graded Outer Fabric
Durability and longevity were the primary focus in developing these innovative waders. This is where the outer material comes into play: an extremely durable, yet soft and stretchable trilaminate butyl fabric used, for example, in military special drysuits for extreme and safety-critical cave and wreck diving. Absolutely resistant and resilient to external stress factors! When fishing, you don't have to worry about putting your waders through too much.
If the toughest outer material in the industry still doesn't provide enough security, it will be the ultra-robust Kevlar reinforcement that does. Kevlar® reinforced inserts made of soft, military-rated DuPont™ Kevlar® fibers have been added to particularly stressed areas in the knee and shin areas, significantly improving tear and abrasion resistance. The DuPont™ Kevlar® panels are almost indestructible and protect not only areas exposed to heavy wear but also serve as knee and shin protection against stones and other unpleasant objects that may come your way while wading.
Kevlar-reinforced knee and leg areas allow you to kneel on sharp stones without worries to land the fish of your life.
Comfort and Ergonomic Design
For the best mobility, the entire wader has been anatomically cut from the shoulder straps down to the booties at the movement-intensive points. The adjustable mesh shoulder strap system not only allows optimal ventilation on the upper body but also distributes weight perfectly on shoulders and back, allowing you to wade effortlessly for days without feeling uncomfortable tension. Even if you carry a large net on the sturdy D-ring at the back.
For even faster and more comfortable entry and exit, the robust TIZIP front zipper ensures. For us, an absolute plus and a feature we wouldn't want to miss in waders anymore. The 50 mm wide, elastic wading belt ensures that nothing slips even during long marches, and your LOC waders always fit perfectly. You can keep fly boxes, leader material, and other essential items in the two large zippered chest pockets, while important tools can be attached to the two front loops and are thus always quickly at hand.
For a particularly high level of comfort, the anatomically left and right-fitting booties made of pre-compressed 3 mm neoprene provide. This pre-compressed neoprene is particularly grippy and abrasion-resistant. The same applies to the gravel guards with metal hooks, which slide perfectly over your wading boots.
In short: The LOC Waders fall into an entirely new category of waders that didn't exist before. It's been a long time since a product has shaken up the industry a bit, and we like that. Comfort combined with uncompromising durability and longevity. This wader is absolutely interesting for those looking for an incredibly robust solution, spending a lot of time in and around the water, and needing to rely on their equipment anywhere and everywhere.

Choosing the Right Undergarments for Your LOC Waders
This question about the right undergarments is frequently asked by customers interested in LOC. Justifiably so, as undergarments play a significant role in thermal regulation and utilizing the special functionality of the waders optimally.
Thanks to the patented 3D Mesh-Tech Inlay, you don't have to dress thick and in multiple layers like with traditional breathable waders when temperatures drop. A thin layer of high-quality Merino wool is sufficient, providing an initial warmth layer to the body, transporting moisture into the 3D-Mesh, and keeping your body dry even during physical activity. The 3D-Mesh-Tech System also creates an air cushion between the outer material (and water temperature) and your body. Because air is an optimal insulator, you don't need additional layers. So, in both summer and winter, a thin layer of Merino wool is enough, as the Mesh-System serves a ventilating function in the summer, and Merino wool helps regulate your body temperature.
In addition to their special waders, LOC offers matching functional garments made of high-quality Merino wool that you can wear under the waders, ensuring you are perfectly dressed for all situations by the water. All Merino products from LOC are made by a Swedish family-owned company and excel in their craftsmanship, quality, and durability. We introduce you to the collection of these high-quality Merino products in our video and explain how you can get the maximum functional performance from your LOC waders.
For the upper body, it's a bit different since the waders open upwards. Here, you can work with a simple layered look. Base Layer – Mid Layer – Insulation Layer – Outer Layer. More information can be found in OUR GUIDE to the right functional clothing for fly fishing in winter.
